The service

Sacred Texts Reader is a free reader for texts from the Internet Sacred Text Archive. It is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and may change or be unavailable at times. Texts, translations, narration and machine translation can contain errors; check important passages against the original source.

The texts

Most texts are historical public-domain editions. Being available here does not establish the copyright status of every edition or illustration in every country; you are responsible for how you reuse them. Historical works may contain views and themes that Sacred Texts Reader does not endorse.

Fair use of the service

Do not attempt to disrupt the service, bypass rate limits, or use it for unlawful purposes. Automated access, including AI agents through /mcp, is welcome within the published rate limits and the content signals in /robots.txt.
